What is a CVD lab-grown diamond?
A CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) diamond is a real diamond grown in a controlled laboratory environment. A diamond seed is placed in a chamber filled with a carbon-rich gas, and under precise heat and pressure, pure carbon crystallises onto the seed layer by layer. The result is chemically, physically and optically identical to a mined diamond — same hardness, same brilliance, same 4Cs grading.
CVD versus HPHT versus natural
HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) is the other lab-grown method — it mimics the pressure of the earth's mantle. CVD tends to produce cleaner, more consistently colourless stones in larger sizes, which is why most modern wholesale supply is CVD. Compared to natural diamonds, CVD stones offer predictable supply across colour and clarity grades and typically trade at 30–70% less than a comparable mined stone.
Why jewellers source from Medina
We supply jewellers, designers and gem traders across Europe from our Antwerp office. Every CVD stone we sell is certified by IGI or HRD Antwerp — the same labs the natural diamond trade relies on — so retailers can present the goods with full confidence and clear paperwork. Our live inventory holds over 3,000 carats across rounds, calibrated melee and fancy shapes, and in-stock orders ship within one business day. Custom sourcing to specification is available within seven business days.
